The Foundation is leading the way in middle school mobility training. We currently have a middle school mobility curriculum being tested in central IL. The first part of the curriculum teaches young children to recognize distracted driving when they see it and explains to these children it's okay to speak up about it; either at the time they see it, if they are comfortable, or later, but they should not stay silent. Adult drivers need to understand they have a child's life and a child's driving education in their hands.

Also, fatalities and serious injuries involving young cyclists and pedestrians are increasing at alarming rates. We need to teach middle school aged cyclists, skate boarders, pedestrians and others about survival skills such as eye scanning, situation awareness, distracted driving recognition and more. These survival skills will enable children to better protect themselves from the current epidemic of distracted drivers. These same survival skills can be used by these young people, when their time comes to drive.
